An Awkward Truth

This happened to me some years ago when I was 22 and working in a pretty uninspiring job in a supermarket. It was Friday I was at lunch in the lunch room when Jason one of the junior management team came in for his break. He sat down next to me and started to chat . Nothing unusual in that as most of our co workers were older married women . At 28 or 29 and single he had more in common with me than anyone
else there.
He asked me what I was doing that night I replied with nothing much I though I would have a few beers and a pizza in front of the AFL on the TV at home . Jason said he had no plans either but would like to do something. I took the hint and asked if he would like to come over and watch the game he readily agreed and we returned to work for the afternoon.
At 7:30 he arrived at my small one bed room unit with beer and pizza we settled in to watch the game. By half time it was clear the game was over as a contest but we had had a few drinks by this time and were conversing like old friends.
