Originally formed to represent Sydney in the 2002 Gay Games, the Stingers are now a permanent fixture of the city's gay and lesbian sporting community.

The team’s mission is to provide a friendly environment to play water polo, train and socialise. The team is continually recruiting new members, regardless of experience, however games of water polo does require strong swimming skills and endurance. The team encourages new and beginner players to join and actively develops and improves all skills required.
