Alice Springs Pride Carnivale Day

Alice Springs Pride Carnivale Day
The Alice Springs Pride Carnivale, the world’s most remote Mardi Gras style festival returns for the fourth year.

Alice Springs Pride Carnivale is a celebration of sexuality and gender diversity across cultures in Central Australian regional and remote communities. For the last three years performers, visitors and artists from throughout the Northern Territory and Australia have converged on Alice Springs to help celebrate diversity in the Sistergirl and Brotherboy, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer (LGBTIQ) community. The festival opens Thursday night, continues Friday and runs over the weekend.

We encourage the whole community to join us for a ‘Mardi Gras’ style Fair Day on the banks of the iconic Todd Rover.

This is an alcohol-free family event running with stage acts, stalls, food, entertainment, camp dog show and much more. Come along and be a part of the outside broadcast by CAAMA Radio from 11 am until 3 pm.

This year the headline act is our very own Warren H Williams and Pixie Jenkins. We have lots of other local talent as well such as Circosis, Desert Tramp, Justin Fenwick and Camille Bernardino, to name but a few. “I look forward to Fair Day and attend every year. I have a passion for fashion and love to dress up. I especially love Fashions on the Field, it’s so fun to see my faerie friends and family in all their finery. My favourite frock came from the free clothes swap” said Organising Committee member Fanny Waterfalls.

There will also be food, market and community info stalls. For the little ones, there will be a kid's space with fun activities!

The Fair Day will conclude at 3pm but we'd love you to join us for our Cabaret Party that evening which is our finale event. The finale will be a queer short film festival followed by cabaret acts by local, Top End and interstate performers at Watch This Space Gallery. Performers include Destiny Haz Arrived from Sydney, the Dreamtime Divas from Kempsey and Vogue MegaQueen from Darwin, as well as popular local acts such as Gabby Dever and Betty Boredway. DJs will keep the night moving with headlining DJ S’Cada from the Blue Mountains.
